Do
you notice compulsive patterns in
yourself or others? Do you feel
helpless over these patterns? That helplessness is the doorway to
healing and transformation. Addictive patterns live in the body as well as the mind. Therapy,
12-step groups, and self-help workshops, give us the opportunity to
cognitively resolve the events of our past, giving little attention to
the physical body. This workshop assists in releasing the experiences stored in the
physical body while freeing the mind. Through asana, meditation and
pranayama, we investigate areas of tightness and tension, allowing for
the gentle release of that which no longer serves us. A rich, supportive and powerful learning environment will be created
that inspires compassion, awareness, change and healing.
People
at any skill level in yoga are invited. Participants are invited to
bring those supporting them in their recovery. Please bring a journal.

The
12-Steps of Yoga ®
Everything
you have experienced in your lifetime is stored in your muscle
memory, All of the positive life experiences as well as the
experience of trauma, abuse, and addiction reside deep within the
muscle tissue. Therapy, 12-step groups, and self-help workshops, give us the
opportunity to cognitively resolve the events of our past. These
healing modalities, however, do not address the memory of events stored
at the cellular level, where our muscles have their own memories. This workshop assists in releasing the trauma stored within the
physical body from years of addiction and abuse. Through asana and
pranayama, we investigate areas of tightness and tension, allowing for
the gentle release of that which no longer serves us. People at any skill level in yoga are invited. Participants are invited
to bring those supporting them in their recovery. This will also serve
as an introduction to the benefits of yoga and assist in getting your
body ready for meditation. All individuals who
identify
with the concept of Recovery are welcome. Please bring your
support group, so we may all recover, release and start anew
together. Attendees should bring a bottle of water, journal
and
willingness to work on yourself.
Yoga:
Inside/Out We view ourselves from the outside in, through two reflective surfaces,
our eyes and a mirror. Both are distorted. The view
from
our eyes is colored by our experience and belief system. The
mirror is distorted by the quality of the glass. Neither
provides
an accurate, complete view of our body, with all of the distortion
– it’s amazing we are able to see our selves at all. Yoga: Inside/Out, will allow you the opportunity to view
yourself
from a new perspective, the inside. Changing the way you feel
and
look in your own skin. Through asana, pranayama and inner
exploration, you will journey deep inside your own body –
examining your stuck spots, areas of tightness, tension, injury, and
illness. All while noticing how your body feels in each
asana,
during your practice and beyond. This week will allow you to
strengthen your core, begin to release emotions, trauma and other
experiences that are stored deep within your muscle tissue all while
making your body a more spacious and comfortable home. Please bring a journal
